Volcanic Eruption Updates

The conference will go on as planned.

Dear DisCoTec participants,

You are probably aware of the eruption that started in Grímsvötn in Vatnajökull glacier on Saturday 21 May. Eruptions in Grímsvötn have been frequent in recent years but they usually only last for a short period of time (4-8 days). Please note that we are not facing the same situation as last year when Eyjafjallajökull volcano erupted. Eruptions in Eyjafjallajökull last a lot longer than in Grímsvötn. Today, 24 May, the eruption is already showing a lot less force. So we do not expect this eruption to have any effect at all on the DisCoTec conference. For news and updates on the eruption please see www.iceland.is

The conference will go on as planned.
